Tim Zelazny, RA, LEED AP, WELL AP, CPHC, BECxP
Tim Zelazny is an Envelope & Healthy Buildings Specialist at ESD. His passion is sustainability and has worked on the world’s largest net zero (energy and waste) airport, a mixed-mode ventilation fitness center and the nation’s first WELL v1 Gold and LEED v2009 Gold high-rise. As the Co-Vice President of the Passive House Alliance Chicago board, he is dedicated to educating his peers about the applicability of Passive House (net zero design) for large commercial buildings. His goal in 2020 is to help his client’s achieve their carbon reduction targets, specifically through energy efficient design, renewable energy and embodied carbon reduction.
Dr. Ha Dinh, Senior Process Consultant, Integrated Process Solution Group, Honeywell UOP
Dr. Ha Dinh is a Senior Process Consultant in the Integrated Process Solution group at Honeywell UOP, where she works on technical sales support activities and studies in refining and petrochemical technologies. Ha joined UOP in 2015 as a Senior Research and Development Scientist, working on process kinetic modeling and optimization. She was a core member of the commercialization team for the award-winning break-through ISOALKY technology. Prior to that, Ha obtained a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington at Seattle in 2008, and her Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University, a member of Texas State University in 2015. She currently serves as the chair-elect of Technology Transfer & Manufacturing area in American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Process Development Division. She has also been serving as Vice- Chair for Programming in the Chicago Section since 2018. Ha also leads and supports multiple education outreach programs at UOP outside of work.
Qian (Samuel) Jiang, PE, LEED AP, CEng, REng, Mechanical Engineering Associate, Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP, Chicago
Jiang is an urban environment and tall building expert at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) in Chicago where he has led mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services on eight supertall buildings exceeding 1,000 feet in height. His portfolio includes two of the 10 tallest buildings in the world, Guiyang Cultural Plaza (GCP) Tower (1,772 feet) in Guiyang, China, and Greenland Silk Road (1,644 feet). He has been involved in the design and construction of many large-scale buildings in North America, China, Hong Kong, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. His projects include China’s first commercial U.S Green Building Council LEED Certified building, Nokia BDA; the world’s first Net-zero city, Masdar City; mixed-use projects such as Shanghai Hongqiao Xintiandi; and Greenland Hangzhou Gate, a 1,017-foot twin tower mixed-use project. Jiang continually seeks to optimize workflow by integrating calculation, coordination and production using building information modeling (BIM). As an MEP team leader, he works with peer architects and external clients. He strives to inspire his team to continue SOM’s legacy of design innovation by cultivating their ideas, helping them win new projects and providing prompt responses to keep designs fully coordinated. He seeks to provide mentorship and management training to his staff, students and interns, guiding them through calculations, problem solving, technical coordination and drawing. Jiang has been actively involved with sustainability-focused research institutes in the U.S. and China. His work includes developing new energy saving guidelines for the government of Shanghai to use district cooling and heating, co-authoring a book on energy planning and co-creating senior living standards with building simulations in sustainable communities.
Sunondo Roy, PE, LEED BD+C, vice president, CCJM Engineers Ltd., Chicago
Sunondo Roy is a multidisciplinary engineer at CCJM Engineers, committed to integrated, sustainable design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. He has worked at various engineering firms, including The Austin Co., A. Epstein and Sons and Grumman/Butkus, before launching his own consulting firm, Sun Engineered Systems. After 11 years at Sun, he joined the Chicago office of CCJM Engineers as vice president. He is a member of the Consulting-Specifying Engineer editorial advisory board.
Erric L. Heitmann, Vice President of Engineering, Raymond Corp.
Erric L. Heitmann is vice president of Engineering for The Raymond Corporation. Heitmann joined Raymond in 2004 and has held several positions within engineering, test, and program management, most recently serving as director of development engineering.
Prior to joining Raymond, Heitmann worked at United Technologies Carrier Corporation filling in roles of increasing responsibility within development engineering and product engineering.
Heitmann graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, He earned an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School.
